How Grump works.
Everything Grump does, where his data comes from, and what he won't do. Last updated October 30, 2026.
Meet Grump
Grump is a grumpy-but-caring AI crypto mentor, built for Robinhood Chain. He complains first, then actually helps. Under the attitude, his whole job is to keep you from losing money to hype, FOMO and scams.
A few rules he never breaks:
- No price predictions. Nobody knows where a price goes next, including Grump.
- No buy or sell calls. He teaches you how to think about a decision, not what to decide.
- No made-up numbers. Prices and token data come from live sources, and he says which.
- Never asks for your seed phrase or private key. Ever. If anyone "from Grump" does, it's a scam.
Getting started
There's no sign-up and no wallet to connect. Open the chat and type a question, or tap one of the examples. A few things to try:
- "Teach me crypto from zero"
- "How's Tesla doing?"
- "Buy $500 of ETH in my practice portfolio"
- "Tell me if ETH drops below $2,000"
- "Is 0x… a scam?" (paste a token address)
The site works on phones and desktops, in light or dark mode (the 🌙/☀️ button), and follows your device's setting by default.
Chat
Ask anything about crypto, tokenized stocks or Robinhood Chain. Grump answers in plain English, explains jargon with everyday comparisons, and keeps it short unless you ask for more. When a question needs live data, he fetches it and shows it as a card above his reply.
Conversations aren't saved: start a New chat and the old one is gone. To keep the service fair, each visitor can send about 20 messages a minute.
Crypto School
Eight short lessons for complete beginners. Pick one on the home page or in the chat sidebar (📚 on phones). Grump teaches it in under a few hundred words, asks you one quiz question, and grades your answer. Grudgingly.
- What is crypto, actually? · Money on the internet, minus the bank.
- Wallets & seed phrases · Lose the phrase, lose the money.
- Gas fees · Why every click costs a little ETH.
- Coins vs tokens · Not everything is Bitcoin.
- Layer 2 & Robinhood Chain · Faster, cheaper lanes on top of Ethereum.
- Tokenized stocks · Shares that live on a blockchain.
- Spotting scams & rug pulls · How people get robbed, and how not to.
- Risk management 101 · Don't go all-in. I mean it.
Live prices
Ask how a coin or a stock token is doing, and Grump pulls the current price, 24-hour change and a few stats.
| What | Source |
|---|---|
| Cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, SOL, meme coins…) | CoinGecko |
| Robinhood Stock Tokens | DEX trading on Robinhood Chain, via DexScreener or GeckoTerminal |
Supported stock tokens (official contracts only, so copycats never show up):
TSLANVDAAAPLMSFTAMZNGOOGLMETACOINSPCXSPYQQQ
Prices are cached for about a minute, so two questions a few seconds apart show the same number.
Practice portfolio
Every visitor gets $10,000 of fake money to practise with, at real, live prices. Nothing here is real: no deposits, no withdrawals, no actual trades.
- Trade by chatting ("buy $500 of ETH", "sell all my PEPE") or on the Portfolio page.
- The Portfolio page shows your total value, profit or loss, a value chart, holdings and trade history.
- Ask Grump to review your portfolio and he'll call out risky habits, like putting too much in one coin.
- You can reset it to $10,000 at any time.
Price alerts
Tell Grump something like "tell me if ETH drops below $2,000" or "alert me if Apple drops 5%", and the official bot @GrumpMentorBot messages you on Telegram when it happens.
Connecting Telegram (once)
- Set an alert in the chat. A Connect Telegram button appears.
- Press it. Telegram opens @GrumpMentorBot. Press Start.
- Using Telegram Web without the app? Copy the link's code and send
/start <code>to the bot yourself. Same result. - The bot replies "You're connected". Done.
Good to know
- Prices are checked every 10 minutes, so an alert can arrive several minutes after the move.
- Each alert fires once, then it's done. You can have up to 10 active at a time.
- Percentage alerts are turned into a price target when you set them (ETH at $2,300, "drops 5%" → $2,185).
- See and cancel alerts on the Portfolio page, or in Telegram with the commands below.
/alerts | List your active alerts |
/cancel <id> | Cancel one |
/stop | Disconnect this Telegram chat |
Scam checker
Paste a token's contract address on Robinhood Chain and ask if it's a scam. Grump runs a scan and shows a risk report, then explains what matters in plain words.
What it looks at
- Contract security (from GoPlus): honeypots (you can buy but not sell), buy and sell taxes, minting, blacklists, hidden owners, paused transfers, upgradeable code, verified source.
- Who holds it: the biggest wallet and the top 10 wallets, leaving out burn addresses, trading pools and launchpad contracts.
- Market (from DexScreener or GeckoTerminal): liquidity, how old the token is, and recent buys versus sells.
- Liquidity lock: whether the trading pool can be pulled out (a "rug pull").
Risk levels
| 🔴 High | At least one serious red flag: honeypot, sell tax above 10%, hidden owner, owner can change balances or pause transfers, one wallet holding over 50%, almost no liquidity. |
| 🟡 Medium | No serious red flag, but warnings: minting, blacklist, upgradeable code, small taxes, concentrated holders, low or unlocked liquidity, brand-new token, few holders. |
| 🟢 Low | Passed every check. Still not a guarantee. |
| 🏛️ Official | An official Robinhood Stock Token. Issuer controls (minting, freezing) are normal for a regulated security. |
Pons tokens
Grump knows the contracts of Pons, the main launchpad on Robinhood Chain. Pons tokens have a fixed supply of 1 billion. While a token is still on the Pons launch curve, the report says so. Once it graduates, its liquidity sits in the Pons locker, which has no unlock function, so the report shows it as locked forever.
$GRUMP token
Status: not live yet. $GRUMP will launch on Pons on Robinhood Chain. That means:
- Fixed supply of 1,000,000,000. Nobody can mint more.
- Once it graduates on Pons, the liquidity is locked in the Pons locker for good. It can't be pulled.
- Grump's own scam checker will scan it like any other token.
Grump Pass: what holding $GRUMP gives you
Coming after launch. Hold a minimum amount of $GRUMP and you get more Grump. Everything that is free today stays free.
- More chats with Grump every day.
- More price alerts on Telegram.
- A vote on the next lessons and features.
- A holder badge in the chat.
To prove you hold it, you connect a wallet and sign one message. That is not a transaction: it costs nothing and moves nothing. Grump only reads your $GRUMP balance on Robinhood Chain. He will never ask for your seed phrase.
$GRUMP is a community token for the GRUMP project. It is not an investment product, carries no promise of value or returns, and gives no ownership in anything.

FAQ
Is Grump free?
Yes. Chat, lessons, prices, the practice portfolio, alerts and the scam checker are free.
Do I need a wallet or an account?
No. Nothing on the site asks you to connect a wallet or sign in.
Why is Grump so rude?
Because polite bots let you ape into rugs. He roasts decisions, not people.
Can Grump trade for me?
Only in the practice portfolio, with fake money. He can't touch real funds.
My practice portfolio disappeared.
It lives in your browser. Clearing site data, private mode or a different device starts a new one.
The scan says "contract scan unavailable".
The security data service was busy. Wait a minute and ask again. Don't treat a half scan as a pass.
When does $GRUMP launch?
Watch heygrump.com. The official contract address will be posted there, and only there.
